This is the Samuel Smith Organic Chocolate Stout which is classified as a Milk/Sweet Stout and comes in at a modest 5.0% ABV. This means that you can have more than a couple of these and enjoy the sweet, lightly roasted chocolate and cocoa infused beer.
A- right of the bat you can see this beer creates a nice creamy, “root-beer float” like head and the smell is delightfully sweet. It is the typical dark chocolate brown you expect from stout but, not much of a cascade to it.
S- the aroma of the beer is sweet, but not too sweet. It is mildly smelling of chocolate, sort of like a milk-chocolate bar.
T- the taste reminds me of Halloween because of all the chocolate I used to get as a child. It reminds me of Hershey’s milk chocolate bar but slightly roasted and has a hint of milkiness or creaminess to it. Also has cocoa in there to give it a more complex flavor than just a creamy chocolate.
O- overall this beer is great for a session style stout or makes a great dessert beer. Skip the candy isle and pick up one of these babies and enjoy liquid chocolate/cocoa instead!
